Eureka has found that coupling an independent expert panel together with a specialized practitioner / inventor in an objective setting creates synergy, unique insight and evaluation speed for medical devices that cannot be achieved in any other way. Eureka has attracted a distinguished Advisory Board from which our expert medical device panels are drawn:

Edward A. Palank, M.D. – FACC, FACPE, CPE.

Edward A. Palank, M.D. – FACC, FACPE, CPE is a prominent practicing cardiologist and author of The Golf Doc: Health, Humor and Insight to Improve Your Game. Dr. Palank has twenty-five years experience as a leading cardiologist, founder and administrator of cardiology programs, and faculty instructor at the leading medical schools. Dr. Palank has served on the Board of Directors of American College of Physician Executives and the New England Heart Institute. He has also served as a regular medical advisor to leading medical device companies.


Benjamin E. Bierbaum, M.D.

Benjamin E. Bierbaum, M.D. is one of the nation’s leading orthopedic surgeons and an international expert in total joint replacement. He is chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at the New England Baptist Hospital.

Dr. Bierbaum is also a clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School. He has served as a consulting physician to the U.S. Olympic Team and as surgeon for professional athletes such as Jack Nicklaus. He regularly serves as a medical consultant on device development and commercialization.


Joseph E. Scherger, M.D., M.P.H.

Joseph E. Scherger, M.D., M.P.H, Home Health Care Visionary, founding Dean of the University of Florida Medical School and Clinical Professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Scherger has received numerous awards, including Outstanding Clinical Instructor in the School of Medicine at the University of California, Davis. He was chosen as Family Physician of the Year by the American Academy of Family Physicians and the California Academy of Family Physicians. In 1986, he served as President of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

Dr. Scherger was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. He received the Thomas W. Johnson Award for Family Practice Education from the American Academy of Family Physicians.

William Shucart, M.D.

William Shucart, M.D. – Eureka Medical Advisory Board Member.

Dr. William Shucart is currently professor and chair of the department of neurosurgery at Tufts Medical School and the New England Medical Center. A graduate of the University of Missouri and Washington University (St.Louis), Dr.Shucart received his neurosurgical training at the Neurological Institute of Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital.

 

Previously, Dr.Shucart had been Professor and chair of the department of neurosurgery at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. His clinical interests have been primarily in the areas of cerebrovascular and pituitary disease.

He has held several positions in organized medicine, including director and chair of the American Board of Neurological Surgery, member and chair of the Residency Review Committee for neurosurgery, President of the Society of University Neurosurgeons, President of the Society of Neurological Surgeons, Chair of the Advisory Council for Neurosurgery of the American College of Surgeons, President of the New England Neurosurgical Society, Director and Vice–President of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
